The Body as Narrative, Metaphor and Performance

Photographs convey narrative and meaning, especially when a human subject is present. The human body is central to how we understand facets of our identity, be it gender, sexuality, race or ethnicity. For the last three years, I have been photographing both men and women, exploring in this collaboration the beauty and power of the human body as it tells a story––perhaps rooted in allegory or mythology, makes a statement–– declaring a deeper and almost spiritual meaning and finally the human body as performance––a deed, an enactment, complex images sometimes straightforward, other times obscure, all in search of the meaning at play in a photograph.
